Table Mountain is a mountain located in Cape Town,South Africa. The name is due to it's flat-topped shape which makes it look like a table. It is a very important tourist attraction in South Africa as the Table Mountain National Park is the most visited national park in South Africa with 4.2 million people from various places visiting every year. The Table Mountain is home to various animals and plants. Anyone who visits Cape Town must visit the Table Mountain because the views from the top of it are phenomenal and below are some of the activities you can do on the mountain.
If you are someone who loves hiking, then the Table Mountain is a good place to do what you love. Hiking on the Table Mountain is very popular amongst the tourists and the locals. Hiking is very fun on the Table Mountain. All you need to do is take your backpack and start trekking on this beautiful Mountain.
You have no problem if riding a bicycle is a form of exercise for you. If you want to ascend and descend on the mountain with a bicycle, then the Table Mountain is a good option as it contains slopes which have many tracks that allow mountain biking. The path to the Block House is a popular way for bike riders. All you need to do is to follow the directional signs on display for Mountain bike riders as this is to ensure safety. Mountain biking is fun especially on the Table Mountain as you are exposed to the beauty of the vegetation surrounding it.
Rock Climbing on the Table Mountain is very popular amongst the locals and the tourists. There are very good documented climbing routes which shows the various degrees of difficulty as you progress up the many faces of the mountain. These instructions guide rock climbers to prevent any form of accident so you change your mind when you don't want to climb any more. The main place for climbing the mountain are located on the cliffs which is below the upper cable station. Bolting is not allowed on the Table Mountain as only old-fashioned climbing or traditional climbing is allowed. One good thing about rock climbing on this mountain is that there are a lot of commercial groups that offer abseiling (descending a steep slope by rope) from the upper cable station.
Caving is one of the activities you can do on the Table Mountain. The World's caves occur in limestone but at the Table Mountain, several cave systems are developed in sandstone. The biggest cave systems are the Wynberg Caves, which is located on the Back Table. This cave is not far from the Jeep Track.
